As he approaches his half-decade plus one year as manager, Mikel Arteta has admitted that his future at Arsenal is inextricably linked to delivering trophies.
A Look Back: From Appointment to Present
The former Arsenal captain assumed control on December 20th, 2019 and promptly led the team to an cup win not long after. But, that initial silverware stands as his sole significant piece of silverware since succeeding Unai Emery.
“I can,” Arteta responded upon being asked about his future past 2027. “However, it is about today. And numerous factors have to happen in the coming months as well to warrant that continuation.”
This weekend sees the six-year milestone with a match versus Everton, the exact opponent Arsenal played just after his role was made public.
Present Challenges
